The children cried out of confusion and insecurity. Each child’s terrified scream would spur another’s frightened cry. The women sung to quiet the children and calm each other. Making an attempt in these last desperate moments to bond together and blanket this small community with some semblance of peace and strength. The men held the women, resigned to the fact everything they once knew was over. Knowing they had sealed the blast doors on what was the longest lived and greatest Human civilization ever to touch the stars. The sirens gut wrenching wale slowly fell silent; soon that horrifying sound was quickly replaced with a thundering from the sky above. Guards standing at the doors stumbled a bit as the pressure preceding the soul ripping sound suppressed everything in the shelter. The hinges on the doors began to buckle, every inch of re-enforce metal armor began to immediately fatigue and whatever was on its way had not even made it yet.
Life ended that day for humanity on Nuha. The largest terrestrial planet in what we know as the Sol System. Billions of lives were silenced as warships unleashed planet shattering weapons upon Nuha. Ripping the atmosphere away, crushing the crust layer after layer until the molten core was breached. Finally penetrated the unstable the planet spun itself apart flinging fragments into the system. Rubble from the planet slung outwards from its orbit and over the thousands of years since formed a massive debris field; so encompassing that it tracks completely around Nuha’s old orbit path like a vast grave for the knowledge and riches of Humanity.
Small flashes of light signaled the cleanup of ships that had not made it out of the tactical range of the warships in time. Pursuit of every signal discov11ered was initiated with ferocity and hunger unmatched by any man. Within hours the machines of war fell silent. The warships pulled further back into deep space; as allies of the former human race began to show up in its failed defense. Humanities Allies combed thru the outer planets some of which took such a pounding their orbits forever changed. Every outpost and site of human existence wiped clean.
Ruda an observation post and science facility on the edge of the solar system was bombarded to the point of fragments from the former buildings and torn lifeless bodies floated away from the icy grave. The first place to be attacked in the system, it suffered a swift and tactical eradication. Enemy ships appeared near orbit in bright flashes of light. Its inhabitants only enough time to send a pre-authored signal to the rest of the System. Communications relays were quickly shutdown by teams of ground forces. Every single life form, some human some not, was terminated with brutal and none relentless efficiency. Once the enemy forces boarded their ships, the capital weapons were brought to bear on the structures of the planet as well as the orbital platforms. Pounding every man made creation into crumpled ruins.
Demeter had become unstable erupting from fissures in its core massive amounts of gas and material blew outward in multiple directions. The destruction to Demeter’s core was caused by multiple warships meeting their end and collapsing into the giant gravity field of the planet. Slowly as the thousands of years would come to pass these would form beautiful rings; providing modern life no hint that Demeter was once a massive planet fruitful enough to feed Humanity throughout the galaxy.
One Commander attempted a low altitude dimensional transport within Baal’s atmosphere to escape the onslaught. With their core already critical and the gravity of Baal so firmly in place the ship ripped apart on execution in a glorious red explosion. The forces on Baal trapped the destructive forces into a tightly woven stream of energy that encircles the planet’s surface slowly and destructively. The energy emitted from the radiation storm vaporized any hope of ships shielding themselves with in the thick clouds of the massive planet. To this day the Eye of Baal gazes upon the System with anger and rage poisoning any vessel that dares travel to close.
Oya, a medium sized planet orbiting close to Nuha, was pounded until every last form of life ceased. Oya’s crust flung high into its atmosphere drowning out and suffocating the precious life giving water on its surface. Oya was the center for human strength and unity of its military, providing a home to the Grand Academy and the Octagon Challenge Arena. No longer did large platforms orbit Oya with warships in dock. Fighter patrols no longer circled the proximity of the planet; instead the remains floated aimlessly and chaotically thru the cold vacuum of space.
The Allies of the once mighty race that called the system home, found no survivors on any of the traditional habited planets, or the floating grave yards of warships that floated, tattered and shredded, amongst the ruins of the pride of Humanity. The first time in thousands of year’s humanity would not witness the start of a new dawn from neither space nor lead or take part in the galactic community. Like all great things in time; the Terran Confederacy had ended. The reign of humanity in the galaxy had fallen. Her allies now looked to their Eden. The source of life for all that traveled the universe; a small blue marble floating in space, in one small solar system in a tiny corner of this one galaxy. Eden the planet said to be touched by the Creator; the one planet where none were allowed to go back, once they left her nurturing womb. On Eden their ships found humanity hiding. They found humanity dismantling their technology, destroying their past and trying to rejoin the Creator’s perfect world.
Too late to stop them, too frightened to let them carry on unhindered; an agreement was made. The agreement would set the course of humanity and the galaxy for thousands of years to come.Static Magick
